Jemena People's Panel: Resident Engagement Opportunity

Every five years, Jemena, along with most other electricity network providers, is required by the Australian Energy Regulator to review and submit a new customer electricity pricing and services plan.

The next plan is for the years 2021-2025 and will outline Jemena's service and pricing for that five year period.

To develop the 2021-2025 plan, Jemena will be talking to customers and undertaking a significant amount of community consultation, including five direct customer engagement forums with the help of an independent community engagement consultant.

The forums will take the format of a People’s Panel and will include 48 customers within Jemena's distribution patch.

Jemena People's Panel

A People's Panel is a deliberative community engagement process, it takes the same group of 48 community representatives along a journey over five sessions to discuss complex issues. This approach provides a way for 'everyday citizens' to work through complex issues, such as the future of electricity and pricing. The Panel is selected to represent the diversity of the community in Melbourne's north-west.

The Panel will explore how electricity transportation works, how it impacts bills, potential changes in the future, and how it can be improved to meet customer needs. Jemena will use the feedback and recommendations collected through the People’s Panel to inform their Electricity Pricing and Services Plan (2021-2025), and the Future Network Strategy.

The 48 people selected for the Panel will be provided with a $400 gift card at the close of all five sessions to cover any out of pocket expenses.
