John McMahon Reserve

John McMahon Reserve is a district open space site located on the eastern edge of Sunbury.

It currently includes an AFL/cricket oval, two softball diamonds, a sports pavilion, car parking and a community garden.

The John McMahon Reserve Master Plan was adopted by Council in early 2017 to guide the future development of the reserve.

Planning and design is well under way for parts of the Master Plan, which is being delivered by Council in partnership with the Victorian Government. Funding of $2,060,000 has been received through the Growing Suburbs Fund. Thanks to this partnership and funding, the Master Plan projects will be delivered earlier than anticipated.

How you can help!

There are some items in the Master Plan we need the community’s help to design:

  •        Playspace
  •        Exercise area
  •        Circuit path

The locations for these spaces have been determined (see the Master Plan) but we need your feedback to decide what they contain and might look like. For example, what types of equipment would your children like to see in the playspace? What types or exercises would you like to do in the exercise area? Should the circuit path have distance markers on it? You can see examples of exercise equipment.

Feedback received from the community during consultation will be considered in the development of the Concept Plan for these spaces. A Concept Plan will be presented back to the community for final review later in 2018.

Submissions for this consultation are now closed.
