Responsible Gaming Policy Review 2018

Hume City Council is currently reviewing its Responsible Gaming Policy and residents are invited to share their opinions and experiences of gambling, to help inform the new policy.

The current policy assists Council to respond to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) on gaming applications in Hume City and our neighbouring municipalities, as well encouraging community awareness of the potential impacts of gaming.

Council recognises that gambling is a legal, recreational activity. However, in instances where gambling becomes problematic or an addiction, it can result in harm to individuals, families and the broader community.

You can learn more about gambling and Electronic Gaming Machines and their impacts on the Hume community by reading Council’s background issues paper.

A series of workshops and an online survey were run in September and October, to seek feedback from residents and stakeholders.

Community consultation for this project has now closed.

A draft policy will be developed and this will be available for public consultation in 2019. Make sure you register for updates so we can inform you when the draft policy is available.
