Review of Mayoral and Council Allowances

NOTICE OF THE REVIEW AND PROPOSED SETTING OF COUNCILLOR AND MAYORAL ALLOWANCES

At the Hume City Council meeting held on Monday 5 December 2016, Council in accordance with Section 74 of the Local Government Act 1989, in conducting a review of the Councillors and Mayoral Allowances, proposed to set the Councillors allowance at $29,630 plus 9.5% (as an equivalent amount to the Superannuation Guarantee contribution) equating to $32,445, and the Mayoral allowance at $94,641 plus 9.5% (as an equivalent amount to the Superannuation Guarantee contribution) equating to $103,632.

In accordance with Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989, written submissions (including the request to be heard) could be made on Proposed Councillor and Mayoral Allowances.  Submissions were received up to 5:00pm on 27 January 2017. Submissions could be made, via:

  • Online submission
  • Post to Chief Executive Officer, Hume City Council, PO Box 119, Dallas 3047
  • Email to contactus@hume.vic.gov.au
  • Hand-deliver to Council’s Customer Service Centres. 

Council will consider written submissions received at a Committee of the Whole Council Meeting on Monday, 6 February 2017 at 7:05pm at the Council Chamber, Hume Global Learning Centre, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows.

Following its consideration of any recommendations from the Committee of the Whole Council, Council intends to set the Councillor and Mayoral Allowances at a meeting of Council on Monday, 13 February 2017 at 7:00pm at the Council Chamber, Hume Global Learning Centre, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows.
