Suburb Boundary Review

Pic2_HumeSubs-1.jpg

Hume City Council is a diverse, vibrant and growing municipality, home to more than 232,700 residents. As the municipality grows, Hume City Council is undertaking a review of suburb boundaries to ensure the suburb size and design meets the need of our current and future community. Council will complete this review in consultation with Geographic Names Victoria. Through this review Council is seeking feedback on what changes, if any should be made, including:

1. What changes could be made to suburb boundaries in Hume City?
Council has proposed some amended suburb boundaries in the high-growth areas of Mickleham, Craigieburn and Yuroke (see Map 1 and Map 2), Sunbury and Bulla (see Map 3) that may benefit from change.

You can use the online interactive map to comment on these hypothetical suburb options and draw your own suburb boundary suggestions.

2. What names could be used for any newly-created suburbs?
You can use the online interactive map to submit your name ideas, and complete a short survey telling us a bit more about why the name is appropriate. You many be interested to know that the United Nations General Assembly has declared 2019 the International Year of Indigenous Languages to raise awareness of the crucial role languages play in people's daily life.

3. Nominations to sit on a Locality Names Advisory Committee to shortlist names for any newly-created suburbs
To nominate to sit on a Locality Names Advisory Committee please read the Terms of Reference and complete the Expression of Interest Form. Successful applicants will be notified on Tuesday 10th September 2019. The committees will meet in the week beginning Monday 16th September 2019.
