Suburb Boundary Review

Hume City Council is a diverse, vibrant and growing municipality, home to more than 232,700 residents. As the municipality grows, Hume City Council is undertaking a review of suburb boundaries to ensure the suburb size and design meets the need of our current and future community. Council will complete this review in consultation with Geographic Names Victoria.

Stage One consultation has now closed. You can still view the online interactive map to see the feedback received in Stage One. The map is now closed for comments.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Stage One of the Suburb Boundary Review. Council is now reviewing all feedback received in Stage One. If you would like to receive updates regarding this project please sign-up here.

In Stage One of this review Council sought feedback on what changes, if any should be made, including:

1. What changes could be made to suburb boundaries in Hume City?
Council proposed some amended suburb boundaries in the high-growth areas of Mickleham, Craigieburn and Yuroke (see Map 1 and Map 2), Sunbury and Bulla (see Map 3) that may benefit from change.

Participants could view the online interactive map to comment on these hypothetical suburb options and draw their own suburb boundary suggestions.
2. What names could be used for any newly-created suburbs?
Participants could use the online interactive map to submit name ideas.
3. Nominations to sit on a Locality Names Advisory Committee to shortlist names for any newly-created suburbs
Participants were encouraged to nominate to sit on a Locality Names Advisory Committee. The Committee will meet in September 2019 to shortlist names for any newly-created suburbs.

During Stage One there were a number of ways people could participate:
