Broadmeadows Dog Park

A 2012 council dog park feasibility study identified three locations within Hume City municipality to be designated dog parks:

  • John Ilhan Memorial Reserve, Broadmeadows
  • Craigieburn Gardens, Craigieburn
  • Sunbury Park, Sunbury

The Craigieburn Dog park opened in 2014 and construction on the Sunbury Dog Park will start soon. The planning for Broadmeadows Dog Park is now underway.

Broadmeadows Dog Park in John Ilhan Memorial Reserve

To plan a dog park, council must weigh up a range of factors including the potential size, exercise equipment and amenities that can be delivered within a set budget. The plan must also comply with existing regulations and standards and be sensitive to the surrounding site users and the natural environment.

The Broadmeadows Dog Park will:

  • be fully fenced with two entry gates
  • have dog waste disposal (bins) and bag dispensers
  • have a drinking fountain and dog water bowl

To assist our planning, council requested community input into:

  • the size of the park
  • seating and shelter requirements
  • number and types of exercise equipment

Thank you to everyone who provided their input. This consultation is now closed.
