The Hume Arts Grants program assists local artists and creative practitioners to sustainably improve their practice capability and economic viability, helping to create more visible and accessible arts and cultural practice in Hume.

This program is intended for applicants who have demonstrated a strong commitment to their chosen arts or heritage practice.

Creative Activity Grant

Grant Amount: Up to $3,000

Apply for this grant if you are:

  • an individual or organisation with a smaller project
  • an individual wanting to attend development opportunities or to purchase equipment to support your craft.

This category is ideal for projects that support emerging artistic practice, develop and trial new ideas and support the generation of new work.

Examples include:

  • Support to develop a new exhibition, composition, or other artwork.
  • Small community projects (for example to initiate classes, groups, room and equipment hire).
  • Creative production costs (eg. printing, studio use, mastering).
  • Specialised equipment (printing equipment, recording equipment).
  • Investment in equipment for small scale projects that do not employ others but have impact, practice development, marketing and distribution initiatives and/or capability development.
  • Development and learning opportunities to support your chosen arts creative or heritage practice the Hume community.
  • Opportunities to participate in state, national and international forums that will bring new skills and knowledge to the Hume community.
  • Leadership and professional development opportunities that will help build the leadership capacity of the Hume community.

All applicants must:

  • Operate primarily in the arts sector.
  • Have no outstanding debts with Hume City Council.
  • Have satisfactorily acquitted any previous funding received by Hume City Council (if applicable).

Individuals must:

  • Be residents of Hume City.

Organisations must:

  • Have a recognised legal structure (i.e. company or incorporated association) or be auspiced (see page 6 of the Arts Grants Program Application Guidelines(PDF, 785KB)).
  • Organisations/groups must be Hume-based and/or run the proposed activity or project from a location within Hume and/or show that it will substantially benefit residents of Hume City.

Creative Project Grants

Grant Amount: Up to $10,000

Apply for this grant if you have a larger scale project that can demonstrate significant benefit to the arts sector and/or community.

This category requires demonstrated partnerships, matched funding, and public outcomes of significance.

Examples include:

  • Medium to long term participatory projects (including matched funds from other partners).
  • Medium to large scale works of public art and performance.
  • Collaborative projects with leaders in the arts sector.

All applicants must:

  • Be organisations operating primarily in the arts sector.
  • Have no outstanding debts with Hume City Council.
  • Have satisfactorily acquitted any previous funding received by Hume City Council (if applicable).
  • Have a recognised legal structure (i.e. company or incorporated association) or be auspiced (see page 6 of the Arts Grants Program Application Guidelines(PDF, 785KB)).
  • Be Hume-based and/or run the proposed activity or project from a location within Hume and/or show that it will substantially benefit residents of Hume City.
