2022 Successful Grant Recipients

Hume City Council is pleased to offer the following groups Annual Community Grants for projects in 2022. Offers are based on satisfactory acquittal of any previous grants, and the meeting of all eligibility requirements.

Partnership

Partnership Grants are for projects that clearly address a significant need and embrace the principles of social justice, healthy living, lifelong learning, environmental sustainability, community safety and inclusion. Grants are up to $10,000 per year for up to three years.

Newly announced fnding:

  • Migrant Resource Centre, North West - $10,000 per year for three years

    A Covid Recovery Program supporting Youth who are new arrivals to engage with the broader community to make friendships, build  networks, grow confidence and settle in Australia.

  • Youth Activating Youth - $10,000 per year for three years

    To provide local woman in Hume access to culturally safe support in the areas of health and wellbeing, parenting, relationships, and education.

  • The One Box Group Limited - $9,000 per year for three years

    To provide weekly fresh produce deliveries in partnership with Hume City Council schools. Mount Ridley College has requested boxes to support 15 families.

  • Life Saving Victoria Limited - $10,000 per year for three years

    Over 2220 CALD/Disability participants will undertake aquatic education and skills training thereby developing social connections whilst improving their physical, mental and social well-being.

  • Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - $10,000 per year for three years

    Based in Broadmeadows, MSO’s Pizzicato Effect provides free, ongoing, twice-weekly stringed-instrument tuition and music education to 70 children aged 8-15 in the City of Hume.            

  • Sunbury Neighbourhood Kitchen Inc - $10,000 per year for three years 

 To support SNK with the costs associated with continuing to provide free meals to the socio-economic disadvantaged and socially isolated members of the Sunbury community.

Specialist Partnership (Reducing Gambling Harm)

The Specialist Partnership Grant (Reducing Gambling Harm) is for new and innovative services, programs and projects to prevent and reduce the harms related to gambling for residents living in Hume. Specialist Partnership grants are for up to $10,000 for up to two years.

This grant is time-limited (2019- 2023) and is funded by contributions from a Craigieburn-based gambling venue. 

  • Banyule Community Health - $10,000 per year for two years

The Work and Development Permit scheme is a social justice initiative delivered in partnership with Fines Victoria where disadvantaged and vulnerable community members are offered a non-monetary option to ‘work off’ debt by engaging in therapeutic services including counselling, AOD treatment, education, volunteer work and mentoring

Project Round One

Project Grants are designed to encourage new ideas, development of locally-led initiatives or projects and collaborations that provide significant benefit to the Hume community. Project Grants are for up to $5,000 for a 12-month period. A second round is run in January/February each year.

  • I'm Still Learning Incorporated - $5,000

Three 8-week Basic Home Maintenance courses in Hume in 2022 that build self-confidence of women through practical learning.

  • Merri Health: Victims Assistance program: Keeping Our Pets Safe - $5,000

 Specialised family violence training with an animal-welfare focus to Hume veterinary reception staff, volunteers and nurses and volunteers at animal rescue services in order to identify and offer support to people who face incidents of family violence where animals are present.

  • Dallas Neighbourhood House - $3,350

 Get Active and Social - weekly social gentle exercise and mediation class for seniors to reconnect and combat social isolation.

Community Participation

These grants support groups and organisations to run programs and activities that encourage community participation and involvement, promote leadership, and develop a strong sense of belonging. This includes health and wellbeing projects that improve and encourage active lifestyles. Grants are available up to $2,000 for a 12-month period.

Community Operational

These grants support the day-to-day operational activities such as insurance costs, venue hire, or ongoing catering for community groups who are working on ongoing projects that help improve health, wellbeing and connection in the community.
