Major State Government Projects
There are a number of major works projects happening in Hume City that are funded and completed by external bodies such as the State Government.

Barry Road bridge upgrade
The Structures Rehabilitation Package will include the strengthening of the bridge along Barry Road that runs over the Craigieburn rail line. From 24 July 2022 until early September traffic on Barry Road, between Pascoe Vale Road and Yinnar Street Coolaroo, will be detoured via Somerton Road (for vehicles travelling north) and Camp Road (for vehicles travelling south).

Craigieburn Road Upgrade
This project includes the addition of extra lanes on Craigieburn Road between Hume Highway and Mickleham Road as well as upgrading intersections and building better walking, cycling and public transport connections.

Sunbury Line Upgrade
This projects includes the removal of the dangerous and congested level crossing at Gap Road enabling bigger, more modern trains to run on the Sunbury Line as part of the works in the Sunbury Station precinct.
