Our Culture And Values

Our organisational values are Respect, Customer Focus, Innovation and Collaboration, and these values are displayed in the way we work and in everything we do to serve the Hume community. We have a set of guiding behaviours to help us display our values, and these underpin the way employees make choices and decisions and work with each other. Our dynamic and forward-thinking culture is a key to our organisation’s success.

Our welcome to new staff

We have a comprehensive induction process to welcome new employees to Hume, including a one day Corporate Induction. This provides our new employees with a great insight into our City and the organisation. A bus tour of the City is included and shows the fascinating diversity of Hume.

 
 

Reward and Recognition

Hume City Council values its employees and recognises those who excel and perform to the best of their ability. Our reward and recognition program acknowledges individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond their daily role, and continuously demonstrate our organisational values. Recognition is also given to staff who have reached a significant milestone in years of service. An annual Reward and Recognition ceremony is held to celebrate employee achievements.

 
 

White Ribbon Team

With a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility, employees are able to participate in various organisational initiatives, such as the White Ribbon Action Team. This team organises events and activities throughout the year, to spread the message of saying ‘No’ to violence against women.

 
 

Green Team

Our Green Team works on initiatives to reduce the organisation’s environmental impact. Some of these initiatives include Ride to Work day, Green Travel breakfasts and events to celebrate World Environment Day.
