Hanson Road reconstruction and Creekwood Drive roundabout

Build A Better Hume Logo.png

We are reconstructing Hanson Road and installing a roundabout at Creekwood Drive in Craigieburn to improve safety for the community.

What we're doing

What’s happening:

  • road reconstruction for a smoother journey
  • upgrading the existing roundabout at Malcolm Creek Parade and building a new roundabout at Creekwood Drive for better traffic flow
  • kerb, channel and drainage upgrades.

Why we're doing it

The current road was in poor condition and reconstruction will stop the road from further deteriorating, reduce ongoing maintenance to the road, improve ride quality and enhance overall road safety.

The installation of a roundabout at Hanson Road and Creekwood Drive will reduce vehicle speeds, provide safer crossing facilities for vulnerable road users and improve the operational performance of the intersection.

Traffic impacts

In February, we started works on the Hanson Road reconstruction between Creekwood Drive and Malcolm Creek Parade.

The roundabout intersection at Malcolm Creek Parade, Hanson Road and Elsternwick Way has now reopened to traffic.

Hanson Road remains closed between Malcolm Creek Parade and Creekwood Drive, and a section of Creekwood Drive is also closed to enable safe construction of the new roundabout.

As works progress, traffic management will continue to be adjusted to improve access. The roadworks are expected to be completed by late July  (weather permitting), with Hanson Road then reopening to traffic.

Lighting works along Hanson Road will continue for a further three months. These works are not expected to impact traffic conditions.

We appreciate your patience while we complete these important works as quickly and safely as possible.
