Advocacy

Hume residents deserve the best. Council is making sure your voice is heard by the State and Federal Government and that Hume gets its fair share of investment.

Hume City is one of the fastest growing and most culturally-diverse communities in Australia. Hume is home to 241,000 residents in 2020, the population is expected to grow to 345,400 by 2041.

What Hume needs

Hume City Council is an Interface Council, one of 10 local governments that form a ring around metropolitan Melbourne – the area where Melbourne is growing fastest. Growing communities like Hume need:

  • a road network free of congestion
  • a more efficient and frequent public transport network
  • access to health care services that can meet the growing demand
  • schools and early childhood services, particularly in newly established communities.

That is why Hume is asking the State and Federal Government to commit to our priority projects.

What can you do? Help us advocate and be heard!
