Getting to Sunbury '24 Festival

Public Transport

Patrons are encouraged to use public transport. Plan your journey with Public Transport Victoria. The nearest bus stop to the venue is located on Macedon Street. Trains operate to Sunbury from Melbourne CBD on the Sunbury Metro Line and from Bendigo on V-Line. Please note on Saturday 13 April buses will replace trains on the Sunbury line between North Melbourne and Sunshine due to works. Visit Public Transport Victoria to find out more about this disruption and plan your journey accordingly. 

Shuttle buses

Shuttle buses will be operating on a loop from Sunbury Station to Hume Global Learning Centre car park off Brook St (Sunbury Library) to Event Main Gate via Eadie St. These will run between 12:30pm – 10:30pm. 

Parking and pick up/drop off zones

Some parking is available at the Hume Global Learning Centre – Sunbury. Free festival shuttles will be regularly stopping at this car park as well as the Sunbury Train Station to take patrons to and from the festival.   

Drop off and pick up zones are accessible in Eadie St. Enter via Aitken St and exit via Powlett St. These streets will be turned into a one-way street for the festival and no parking is available in this area. Please ensure that you do not leave vehicles unattended at any time.  

Festival entry

The main entry/exit gate will be accessible via Eadie Street where a high number of ticketing staff will be available to manage queues accordingly. A secondary entry gate will be accessible via Vaughan Street. You can also access the via Goonawarra, the bridge will be open. Tickets are required to be pre-purchased. The event is sold out. We anticipate that there will be a need to queue for entry or exit at certain times.  

Please always cross the roads with care using traffic lights and marked pedestrian crossings. Temporary crossings will be placed on Macedon St between Aitken and Vaughan St. Please follow instructions from Event Staff, Security and Traffic Controllers when arriving or leaving the venue.  

Safety 

Security   

Security and police personnel will be on site. Aggressive anti-social behaviour or intoxication will not be tolerated and will result in ejection from the festival, without the possibility of re-entry.

First aid

First aid will be centrally located, next to the Festival Information marquee. If you or someone needs first aid, please alert security or a staff member.

Lost children   

Anyone under the age of 18 years must be always supervised by a parent/guardian.  

The lost child meeting point is the festival information marquee. 

Patrons will be encouraged upon entry to write the phone number of the parent/guardian on the underage wristband that will be distributed.   

Emergency   

If there is an emergency, you may be required to evacuate the site. Please remain calm and follow instructions from staff and emergency services.

Stage Lighting Warning 

Lighting effects including strobe and flicker may be used at the event.

COVID-19   

Our events will run under the state specific public event guidelines and requirements. We ask that you follow COVID-Safe practices and stay home if you are feeling unwell. Guidelines and requirements may vary from state to state and can be found on the BetterHealth website.

Pets

Pets are not permitted at this festival. Assistance animals are allowed.

What you can bring to the festival

  • BYO standard sized camping chair (back of chair no higher than 100cm).  
  • Picnic rugs  
  • Sealed soft drinks and water (no glass).  
  • Empty drink bottles to use at our free water stations.  
  • You are welcome to BYO food for personal consumption. We would prefer you to support the local food businesses (if possible) on site who will have an array of food to purchase. Please do not bring metal cutlery (including cheese knives). Every attempt is made to ensure all dietary requirements are catered for by the food vendors, however, if you have a specific dietary requirement, it is advised to bring your own food.  
  • Wear appropriate footwear. The festival site is sloped and uneven in areas. 
  • If the forecast is for rain, please bring suitable shoes, a poncho or raincoat.  
  • Umbrellas are permitted however they are not to be used during performances in front of the stage.
  • Bring sunscreen and a hat! Please note: The Nook is a shady park with lots of trees but there are limited sheltered areas - come prepared for rain or shine. 

Prohibited items

  • All drinks are prohibited, except for sealed water and soft drinks or empty drink bottles  
  • Metal cutlery including cheese knives 
  • Selfie and Go Pro sticks. 
  • Aerosols, sunshades, tents and tables 
  • Glass - this includes wine glasses, jars, perfume, makeup, or any other containers or items made of glass 
  • Professional cameras (including SLR's & any camera with a removable lens) and sound and video recording equipment.  
  • Pets (other than assistance dogs).  
  • Beanbags, blow-up air chairs or lounges. 
  • Alcohol or illicit substances 
  • Gang patches or paraphernalia 
  • Dangerous items/weapons - including but not limited to knives, flares, fireworks and laser pointers 
  • Banners or signs deemed offensive or too large by Event Staff 
  • Any other item Event Staff deem to be inappropriate, prohibited, or a danger or inconvenience to other attendees 

There will be a security check at the gate and prohibited items will be confiscated. Hume City Council does not take any responsibility for confiscated items.

Refusal of entry

Patrons will be refused entry if they: 

  • Appear to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs/narcotics
  • Refuse to comply with requests from security and/or gate staff
  • Have no valid entry ticket or accreditation

All patrons and their possessions may be subject to a search prior to being granted entry into the venue. Refusal to be searched will result in denied entry to the venue. 
 
Patrons and their possessions may also be searched during an event. Any refusal to be searched will result in eviction from the venue. 

Accessibility

We have endeavoured to make this event as accessible as possible. Should you have any questions regarding access, please contact us at events@hume.vic.gov.au 48 hours before the event.  

Accessible parking is available for a limited number of vehicles via Vaughan Street, Sunbury. Please have your accessible parking pass visible and advise the traffic marshal who will show you to the closest available parking space.  

Drop off and pick up zones are accessible via Eadie Street. Enter via Aitken St and exit via Powlett St. These streets will be turned into a one-way street for the festival.  

All public transport (trains and buses) within the PTV network in and around Sunbury are accessible. Festival shuttle buses will also be running free of charge in a circuit between the festival site at The Nook, Sunbury Train Station and the Hume Global Learning Centre car park off Brook St (Sunbury Library). The festival shuttles will be accessible.  

The site features existing gravel and concrete paths. We have made every effort to consider the accessibility needs of all with continuous paths to key areas around the site. Please note that the due to the park nature of this site, areas are uneven and sloped. The site is step-free. 

A limited capacity accessible viewing area will be available in view of the stage. This is open to everyone with accessibility needs, and a companion.  

Accessible toilets are available within the existing facilities at the festival site (near the accessible platform). An additional accessible toilet will be in located in the toilet block at the Eadie Street end of the site. 

Amenities 

Drinking water will be available. Empty drink bottles can be brought into the venue to use at our free water stations.  

Portaloos and accessible toilets will be located in two areas on site for your use. 

A baby change table is located in the permanent bathroom facilities on site, near the accessible platform. 

There will be a dedicated smoking zone for patrons in the area shown on the public map. The rest of the festival is smoke free. 

A limited number of chairs, tables and shade umbrellas will be available in the food zones. This furniture is not to be moved. We recommend patrons BYO camp chairs (back of chair no higher than 100cm).

Where is the event?

The event will be held at The Nook Sunbury. The main entry/exit gate will be accessible via Eadie Street where a high number of ticketing staff will be available to manage queues accordingly. A secondary entry gate will be accessible via Vaughan Street.

 

Are passouts available?

Passouts are available. Patrons can leave the event and return. Wristbands will be given upon entry and will be used to regain entry. Alcohol is not permitted to be taken outside of the event. Re-entry is subject to entry terms and conditions mentioned above. 

Patrons are not permitted to leave chairs or picnic rugs unoccupied for long periods of time.  

 

What is the date and time of the event?

The event will be held on Saturday 13 April 2024 from 1.30pm - 9pm. Gates open at 1pm.

 

Is this event free?

No, the event is ticketed and sold out. You can sign up to the event waitlist, however this does not guarantee ticket availability.

 

Where can I park?

There is no general parking at the festival site. Limited parking is available at the Hume Global Learning Centre - Sunbury (via Brook St). Shuttle buses will be operating on a loop from Sunbury Station to Hume Global Learning Centre, Sunbury carpark (via Brook St) to Event Main Gate via Eadie St. These will run between 12:30pm – 10:30pm.

 

Will there be traffic management?

Vaughan St will be closed between Macedon Street and the event site.  

Aitken, Eadie and Powlett Streets will be re-purposed as a one-way street for the festival to allow for vehicle and bus drop off/pick up only.  

A temporary crossing will be implemented on Macedon Street for the duration of the festival.  

Traffic marshals have been contracted to manage these changes.  

 

Can I swim in the creek?

No. Swimming is prohibited at the festival and will be monitored. This is a licensed event and is for the safety of all attendees and local wildlife.

 

Do I need to book the festival shuttle?

No you don't need to book the festival shuttles, they are free for all attendees.

Can I buy tickets on the day?

Tickets for the event are sold out, no tickets will be available at the festival. You can sign up to the event waitlist, however this does not guarantee ticket availability.

 

Can I stand up to see the performers?

Patrons will not be stopped from standing at the festival. However, the marked aisles must be kept clear. Consideration of other patrons is expected at all times.

 

Who can attend?

The event is open to all ages who have pre-purchased tickets. Underage patrons are required to be supervised by a parent/guardian.

 

Can I get a refund if I'm no longer able to attend?

You can request a refund via Eventbrite up until 24 hours prior to the festival. This will give those on the waitlist an opportunity to purchase your ticket.

 

 

What time are the performances on?

Please view our festival performers page for the playing times.

Occasionally changes occur that are out of our control. Scheduled performance times and artist line-ups are subject to change. No refund will be offered in these circumstances.

 

Where is lost property?

If you find or lose something, please go to the Festival Info marquee during the event. Any valuable lost property will be left at the Sunbury Police Station the following day. You can contact events@hume.vic.gov.au to arrange lost property returns of other items the following business day.

 

Can I use the photos/videos posted by Hume City Council?

You must not use any Hume City Council trademarks, images, names, or logos without the prior written permission.

 

Will the event be cancelled in bad weather?

The event will only be cancelled in extreme weather such as high winds, storms, heavy rain, flooding of site, etc. If the event is cancelled, patrons will be notified directly. Please note, various activities may be cancelled due to bad weather even if the event still proceeds.

 

Can I smoke/vape?

There will be a dedicated smoking zone for patrons in the area shown on the public map. The rest of the festival is smoke free.

 

What should I wear?

Please dress for the weather. There will be no additional shelters in place for the festival except for a limited number of shade umbrellas in the eating zones. There are some trees on site for natural shade.

 

Can I take photos/video for professional use?

No, a permit must be obtained. Please contact events@hume.vic.gov.au

Can I bring my own chairs and picnic rugs?

Patrons can BYO standard sized camping chair (back of chair no higher than 100cm) and/or picnic rugs. Please note, the festival site is inclined (amphitheatre style) and has uneven areas.  

There will be a limited number of tables, chairs and shade umbrellas in the food zones (they are not to be removed).  

 

 

Do I need my ID?

Under the terms of our Liquor Licence, patrons wishing to purchase alcohol may be required to show ID as proof of age if requested by a vendor or security. Underage patrons (or those who are unable to show ID if requested), will be given an underage wristband and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times while at the event.

 

Can I pay with cash or card?

Most vendors on site will have both options available. There will be no ATM at the event.

 

Will someone check my bag?

Yes. Bag checks will be conducted at the festival entry points by security. Prohibited items will be confiscated.

 

Can I camp or bring a caravan?

Camping and caravans are not permitted at the festival site.

Can I leave my car in the carpark?

We do not advise this. Leaving your vehicle overnight is entirely at your own risk. The Sunbury Global Learning Centre car park is not a secured or patrolled area.

 

Can I bring my children?

If you have pre-booked a ticket for your child, they are welcome to attend. Children must be always supervised by a parent/guardian. This includes anyone under the age of 18 years. Prams/strollers are welcome but please be aware that the festival site is on a slope.  

Your child will be given an underage wristband upon entry. We encourage you to write your number on the wristband. This way if you do lose your child they can be easily reunited.   

Can I bring my pet?

No. Only registered service dogs are permitted.
