Hume Youth Pathways Summit
The Youth Pathways Summit is a dynamic event aimed at empowering young individuals by providing them with valuable resources, insights, and connections to navigate diverse pathways in education, career development, and personal growth.
Hume Youth Services and the Brotherhood of St Laurence, supported by the Youth Innovation Committee and the Youth Advisory Group, are hosting a Youth Pathways Summit to accompany the Hume Whittlesea Local Learning and Employment Network VET Discovery Expo.
The summit will explore some of the key themes surrounding pathways into education and employment, through interactive workshops and panels of sector experts and young people speaking about their own experiences of navigating their pathways post-school.

Works in Progress - A Pathway to Your Future
Led by Hume Youth Service's Youth Innovation Committee and in partnership with Hume Youth Services, Brotherhood of St Laurence and headspace, WORKS IN PROGRESS - A Pathway to Your Future aims to help shape alternative pathways for students and young people who are unsure of their next steps.
The event is intended to explore diverse and non-traditional education, training and employment options such as visitor economy, sporting pathways, hospitality, health sector and more. Current themes being explored include:
- Relatable lived-experience conversations
- Cultural and gender expectations
- Self-advocacy (understanding boundaries, identifying red flags, and speaking up)
- Alternative pathway industries (including visitor economy and emerging industries)
- Creative approaches to seeking employment
The event will include a youth-led panel discussion, interactive workshops and engaging stalls from industry, businesses and local service providers. Lunch will be provided!
This Youth Summit is targeting senior secondary students (Year 10-12), early school leavers and young people up to 24 years old who are uncertain about education, training or employment pathways.

2022 Hume Youth Summit
Hume Youth Services hosted the Innovate, Initiate, Inspire Youth Summit on Thursday 20 October 2022. Hume students in Year 9 to Year 12 had the opportunity to learn about youth innovation and entrepreneurship focusing on areas such as skill building, problem-solving, building resilience and youth-driven innovation.
During the event, students from participating schools took part in workshops, heard inspiring stories from guest speakers, and formed connections with one another.
The presenters and organisations who supported the event included, MC Yung Philly, Councillor Sam Misho, Project Rockit, Speak Australia, Unconventional Learning, Youth Projects, HoMie, The Push, Future Minds Network, Emily Unity, Young Change Agents and For Change Co.
