What we're doing

We're creating a new community centre in Sunbury South that will provide a welcoming, accessible and comfortable space for residents to connect, participate and access local services.

The project forms part of the Sunbury South Precinct Structure Plan and will be one of the first community facilities delivered in the new community, providing important early years, family and community services for local residents.

The new community centre will include:

  • two kindergarten rooms with dedicated outdoor play spaces
  • two community rooms with access to outdoor areas
  • community kitchen
  • multipurpose room with an adjoining outdoor space
  • meeting room
  • consulting room
  • two maternal and child health consulting rooms
  • car parking and landscaped outdoor areas.

The centre is being designed to support a wide range of programs, services and activities, helping create a vibrant community hub for current and future residents of Sunbury South.

Why we're doing it

The new community centre will be designed to support the needs of Sunbury South's growing community. As more families move into the area, the centre will provide a welcoming place to access services, participate in activities and connect with others close to home.

The building will include environmentally sustainable features to help reduce energy use and improve long-term resilience. These features, including solar panels, battery storage, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, and water-sensitive landscaping, will help create a more comfortable facility for community members while reducing environmental impacts and supporting a more sustainable future for Sunbury South.

Construction 

Construction on the project commenced in late July 2026, and is due to be completed in early 2028, subject to weather and site conditions. We'll continue to keep the community informed as the project progresses. 

Partnerships 

Funding from the Victorian Government's Building Blocks Grant program is helping deliver the Jacksons Creek Community Centre in partnership with Hume City Council.
