Greenvale Recreation Reserve

What we're doing

We'll be undertaking renewal works at Barrymore Road Recreation Reserve in Greenvale to create a more welcoming, accessible and enjoyable space for the community.

The upgrade includes:

  • new play equipment for children of different ages and abilities, including a swing set, carousel, slides and climbing activities
  • additional drinking fountains
  • a new picnic shelter
  • more seating throughout the reserve
  • additional tree planting to increase shade and enhance the landscape
  • new bins to help keep the reserve clean and tidy.

A new public toilet has also recently been installed, providing improved amenities for visitors.

Why we're doing it

The existing playspace and surrounding landscaping are outdated, offer limited amenities, and require significant refurbishment.

This project will enhance the overall amenity and functionality of the area by delivering a modern, inclusive playspace that better meets the needs of the local community.

What to expect

Works are planned to commence in August and are due to be completed in December 2026, weather permitting. Construction works will take place between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Temporary fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the playspace, which will be closed throughout the construction period. Alternative playspaces can be found nearby at Drummond Street Playground and Kirkham Drive Playground.

Managing impacts

We manage our works responsibly in line with project requirements by:

  • keeping residents informed when work is happening nearby
  • using clear signage
  • securing worksites with fencing, barriers and safety measures
  • monitoring and managing noise, dust and other construction impacts.

We appreciate your patience as we work on these improvements at Barrymore Road Recreation Reserve.
