We're delivering Stage 2 of the Hume Hockey and Lacrosse Centre in Craigieburn, including a second synthetic pitch and an expanded pavilion.

What we're doing

This project will deliver a new sports pavilion and synthetic hockey pitch, designed to meet the needs of the growing tenant sports clubs..

Key features of the project will include:

  • sports pavilion with social room, kitchen, player change rooms, amenities and storage
  • full-size synthetic hockey pitch
  • LED floodlighting for the hockey pitch
  • safety fencing
  • player and official benches
  • goal storage areas.

Why we're doing it

The Hume Hockey and Lacrosse Centre was developed in two stages. Stage 1 delivered a synthetic hockey and lacrosse pitch, sports lighting and a pavilion, which opened in 2018.

Since then, participation has grown significantly, with three hockey clubs now using the facility. As demand has increased, the existing pitch and pavilion have reached capacity.

Stage 2 will deliver a second pitch and additional pavilion facilities, providing more space for training, competitions and community use, while supporting the continued growth of hockey and lacrosse in Hume.

Timing

Construction commenced in August 2026 and is expected to be completed in early 2027, weather permitting.

Partnerships

The second hockey pitch is being jointly funded by Hume City Council and the Australian Government, which contributed $1.9 million through the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program. The pavilion expansion is being fully funded by Hume City Council.
