What we’re doing

We’ll be renewing the pedestrian bridge connecting Knox Court with the Blind Creek shared path in Sunbury.

The existing pedestrian bridge over Blind Creek will be replaced with a new accessible, all-weather pedestrian bridge designed to meet current accessibility requirements and all relevant engineering and regulatory standards.

Why we’re doing it

The current bridge can be impacted during flash flooding, making it unsafe and unreliable. It also doesn't meet current accessibility standards. The new bridge will provide a safer, all-weather crossing that better meets community needs.

Construction impacts

Works are planned to take place from August to October 2026. To allow the bridge to be replaced, the existing bridge, shared path and Blind Creek crossing will be closed for up to two months during construction.

A pedestrian detour will be available via Riddell Service Road, McKell Avenue and Hogan Street. This route will provide access to the other side of Blind Creek and is expected to add approximately 15 minutes to walking trips.

Project benefits

  • A safer pedestrian crossing.
  • Better access for people of all abilities.
  • Improved reliability during wet weather and flooding.
  • Compliance with current accessibility and safety standards.
