A patron at the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre has sadly died this morning, Saturday 10 June.

Centre staff followed all correct procedures in response to the situation by calling Triple Zero and immediately administering CPR in an attempt to resuscitate the patron, but those efforts were unsuccessful.

Paramedics and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade attended the scene following the emergency call, and the Centre was subsequently closed to allow investigations to take place. At this stage the Centre will re-open at 8am, Sunday 11 June.

Centre staff are receiving support through Council’s Employee Assistance Program.

Anyone who was on site or has been impacted by this incident and requires support is encouraged to contact Hume City Council on 03 9205 2200.

We express our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
