Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore congratulated 48 dedicated young students who received a 2019 Education Scholarship.

“Going from primary school to secondary school is a significant milestone for every child and their family,” Cr Moore said.

“For the past 19 years the Hume City Council Education Scholarship Fund has supported families of children who are transitioning from primary into secondary school,” Cr Moore said.

“Each year, local primary schools across Hume City each nominate one Year 6 student that has shown an exceptional commitment to their learning during their primary school years.

“Nominated students receive a scholarship of $1,000, paid to the secondary school they will be attending next year.

“Our early years of schooling become the foundation we build our higher education on, so I hope these scholarships will also inspire primary school student to strive for excellence during their primary school years.”

The 2019 Education Scholarships can be used to fund uniforms, books, school fees and excursions.
