Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Providing information to our community on COVID-19 vaccination, testing, and available support. 

Council will continue to offer essential services such as bin collections, hard rubbish collections, preschool and childcare services and immunisations. However, some services will be unavailable.

If you have any symptoms, no matter how mild, you should get tested for COVID-19.

Changes to Council services

The following closures are in place for the duration of the lockdown:

  • Tips/resource recovery centres.
  • All community facilities including Hume Global Learning Centres, senior citizens centres, youth centres and all community venues - except where these facilities are being used as a COVID-19 immunisation or testing site, or for another authorised activity.
  • Customer Services Centres.
  • Leisure Centres and all indoor and outdoor sports and recreation (except playgrounds).
  • Libraries - except for Hume Libraries Express and Click and Collect.

From Monday 23 August, all childcare centres and kinders across Victoria will be closed except to children whose parents are authorised workers and cannot be supervised at home. Exposure sites

Anyone who has visited a Tier 1 exposure site during the times listed must immediately isolate, get a COVID-19 test and contact Victorian Department of Health on 1300 651 160.

 

Keep checking the list of exposure sites, as new sites may be added, based on new information.

Face masks

  • Face masks are mandatory indoors (not at home) for anyone aged 12 and above, unless an exception applies.  
  • Face masks are mandatory in the workplace – unless an exception applies.
  • Teachers, educators and carers must wear masks. Secondary school students must also wear masks, unless an exception applies.
  • Masks must be worn outdoors where of at least 1.5 metres physical distancing cannot be maintained. 
  • Masks must be worn on public transport and in commercial passenger vehicles (e.g., taxies and rideshares).
  • Face masks must be worn outdoors when you can't maintain 1.5 meters distance from people who are not your intimate partner. 
  • You must carry a mask with you at all times. 

Make sure you're wearing your mask correctly by following the World Health Organisation's tips:

  • Wash your hands before touching the mask
  • Adjust the mask to your face without leaving gaps on the sides - it should cover your nose, mouth and chin
  • Avoid touching the mask
  • Wash your hands before removing the mask
  • Remove the mask using the straps
  • Store the mask in a clean plastic resealable bag
  • Wash your hands after removing the mask
  • Wash your reusable mask in hot soapy water after each use
  • Put disposable masks in your garbage bin - they are not recyclable.

Getting tested

If you have any symptoms, no matter how mild, you should get tested for COVID-19 and isolate at home until you get your result. Symptoms include:

  • fever
  • chills
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • shortness of breath
  • runny nose
  • loss or change in sense of smell or taste.

 Additional testing sites have been activated in the following locations in Hume as of 15 July: 

  • Walk-in testing at Craigieburn Central 
  • Pop-up drive through at Sprint Pavilion Car Park, Craigieburn.

Food relief

We have a number of local agencies that can provide food parcels or grocery vouchers for people who are experiencing hardship.

The Victorian Government is providing a $450 COVID-19 Test Isolation Payment to support Victorian workers, including parents and guardians, who are required to self-isolate while you wait for the results of your COVID-19 test.
