2022 State Election

Hume City Council is one of Australia's fastest-growing and most diverse communities. Our population of 257,000 will expand to 394,000 in the next 20 years, and we need vital infrastructure and services to grow with us.

In the lead up to the 2022 State Election, we’re calling on candidates from every political party to help Hume prosper. We need investment that relieves road congestion, helps hard-hit communities recover from COVID-19, upgrades public transport facilities and supports refugees and asylum seekers making a life in Hume.

Hume’s 2022 State Election priorities

Council is calling for investment in the following key projects:

  • Congestion-busting projects to unlock our City‘s economic potential:
    • Duplication of Sunbury Road (between Bulla-Diggers Rest Road and Melbourne Airport)
    • Duplication of Mickleham Road (between Dellamore Boulevard and Craigieburn Road)
    • Duplication of Somerton Road (between Roxburgh Park Drive and Mickleham Road)
    • Donnybrook Road improvements (Stage one – an additional dedicated left turn lane at the Mitchell Street roundabout)
  • Redevelopment of Broadmeadows Train Station
  • Improved social housing at Broadmeadows' Banksia Gardens Housing Estate
