Welcome to a quick wrap up of what was discussed by Council on Monday 8 May 2023.

1. Our new budget is here – and it’s open for feedback.

We're proud to present our new draft 2023/24 Annual Budget for feedback. We encourage our community to have a look at how we’ll be spending your rates on the essentials like roads and rubbish, and on bigger items like new community facilities and parks.

Feedback is open until 30 May 2023 over at Participate Hume

2. Western Avenue Rezoning and Development

We'll be making an official submission objecting the proposed rezoning and development of the land at 140-204 Western Avenue, Westmeadows.

Council also noted its disappointment that the planning decisions have been taken out of our hands – a true hit to local democracy. We’ve released an official statement on the topic.

3. A new strategy for events and festivals

Council approved a new strategy to go for consultation. It outlines how we’re planning for the future of events in Hume City – and it’s been built off the feedback of our community collected in September – November 2022. The consultation is now live at Participate Hume.

More details, including official minutes, notices of motion and audio recordings will be published later this week.
