Welcome to a quick wrap up of key items that were discussed at our Council Meeting on Monday 28 August 2023.

1. Domestic Animal Management Plan

We’ve adopted our Domestic Animal Management Plan 2023-2026. There were 105 responses received during the public exhibition period throughout June and July that have helped shaped this plan.

This plan will help Council in managing cat and dog issues across the municipality.

2. Housing Diversity Strategy

Our Housing Diversity Strategy aims to guide and manage housing change in established areas over the next 20 years.

We’re working to ensure that everyone in Hume has access to a home that meets their needs.

3. Sports Aid Grants

We agreed to award Sports Aid Grants to 22 applicants as a part of the Round One 2023/24 Sports Aid Grants, totalling $6,750.

Congratulations to all the recipients as you aim to pursue your sporting dreams.

4. Joint Council meeting

We will participate in a joint meeting with nearby Whittlesea Council and Mitchell Shire Council to discuss the strategic importance of the Cloverton Metropolitan Activity Centre.

This meeting will reinforce the three Council’s commitments to work together as we create a new area that will be the size of Canberra in the years to come.

5. Support for our Rural Environment

We will provide 43 Conserving our Rural Environment Grants totalling $353,760 to support and improve the natural environmental values on private rural property.

We also agreed to award 74 properties the Primary Producer Rate Rebate totalling $151,880 to support sustainable land management practices.

More details, including official minutes, notices of motion and audio recordings will be published later this week.
