What we’re doing

We’re renovating the centre to give patrons 24 hour access to the existing Gymnasium.

This will allow users to use the gym while the rest of the Aquatic and Leisure facility is closed after hours.

Why we’re doing it

Many private gym facilities in and around Sunbury now operate on a 24/7 basis, and the absence of round‑the‑clock access at the Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre has been identified as a service gap by patrons.
 
Expanding to 24/7 operations will enhance accessibility for the Sunbury community while providing a Council‑managed facility at a reasonable cost to residents.

Construction impacts

Works are planned to take place from 14 September 2026 to 12 March 2027.
Construction during this period will be sequenced so that the public can still use the facility with minimal impact.  

Project benefits

  • Secure 24/7 access to the exising gymnasium
  • Provides service in line with competing facilities while remaining reasonably priced
