VR Career Exploration provides young people with insight into the world of work, through virtual reality experiences so they can make more informed career decisions and practice job interview skills.
The program includes two experiences: a job interview simulator, and a day-in-the-life exploration of a broad range of careers. More information about the two programs is listed below.
Please complete the VR Career Exploration booking request form and a Hume Youth Services staff member will contact you shortly.

Job Interview Simulator:
This program takes young people through the experience of a job interview, including travel planning, outfit choice, and answering job interview questions in a simulated office environment. Participants receive feedback on key metrics such as speech pace, eye contact, and the length of their responses.
Work Window:
This experience allows young people to choose from a broad range of careers and follow along as an industry professional takes them through the work environment, and day-to-day tasks.
Depending on the session plan, the VR Career Experience can take anywhere between 20-60 minutes.
Please note that we have six headsets available and can therefore only work with six students at a time.
Please see the available session plans here: VR-Career-Exploration-Session-Plans.pdf(PDF, 151KB)
Job-readiness: participants should be looking to enter the paid workforce within the next 6 months, or already part of the workforce.
Age: this program is most suitable for young people aged 15-24
Language and literacy skills: this program is suitable for native English speakers and those who speak English as an additional language at a Certificate III level and above
Learning needs: we have some capacity to adapt these sessions to young people with different learning needs. Please reach out to discuss how we might be able to tailor something to the needs of young people you work with.
By the end of the lesson, the participant will have a better understanding of how to prepare for job interview questions, manage the administration of job interviews, choose appropriate work attire, and communicate in a job interview.
By the end of the session, the participant will have a better understanding of what their chosen career may look like on a daily basis, straight from the mouth of an industry professional.
We will provide the VR headsets, student worksheets, and lesson plans, and facilitate the sessions.
You will need to provide a Wi-Fi connection, a whiteboard, and a space to complete the simulations on the headsets.
