Upcoming impacts to Council services

On Thursday 11 June, Council received formal notice advising that members of the Australian Services Union (ASU) will take part in a planned 24‑hour work stoppage on Wednesday 17 June.

As a result, some disruptions to Council services, including bin collections and library services may occur.

Bin collections

If your bin is normally collected on a Wednesday (Sunbury and Bulla residents):

  • Put your bin out as usual

  • If it is not collected, please leave it out – you do not need to report it

  • A catch-up collection is scheduled on Saturday 20 June

Some other Council services may also be impacted. As participation in industrial action is optional for union members, the full impact of services will not be known until the day.

Updates will be provided here as more information becomes available.

Why is this happening again?

The ASU is currently undertaking protected industrial action as part of ongoing enterprise bargaining negotiations. These stoppages are one of the actions available to union members during the process.

Will this continue to happen in the future?

Future industrial action depends on the progress of negotiations between Council and the ASU. Council remains committed to negotiating in good faith and will continue to work toward an agreement. Any further planned action will be communicated to our community as soon as notice is received.
