Ongoing protected industrial action by the Australian Services Union (ASU) is continuing to affect waste services across Hume.

We are continuing to arrange catch-up collections where possible and will keep the community updated as further information becomes available.
We understand these disruptions are frustrating and apologise for the inconvenience.
Industrial action notices are being received frequently, and the situation continues to change. As a result, Council does not have certainty about which services, routes or properties may be affected, or how long impacts may continue.
Council remains committed to negotiating in good faith with the ASU through the multi-employer enterprise bargaining process, which includes Hume and seven other councils.

Why is this happening again?
The ASU is currently undertaking protected industrial action as part of ongoing enterprise bargaining negotiations. These stoppages are one of the actions available to union members during the process.
Will this continue to happen in the future?
Council remains committed to negotiating in good faith and will continue to work toward an agreement. Protected Industrial Action is legally protected during this time. Council cannot say whether this will continue to happen in future.
