Hume says NO to spoiling Bulla

Hume City Council continues to strongly oppose the proposal to dump, store and process spoil from the West Gate Tunnel Project at the Hi-Quality site in Bulla.

We stand by our community’s deep concerns for their health, the environment and road safety with existing arterial roads already congested and in need of upgrading by the Victorian State Government.

We cannot believe that the Victorian Government still appears to be seriously considering Bulla as an option.

This site in Bulla is in close proximity to the recently approved residential development by the Victorian Government in Sunbury South, and to Emu Creek - it makes no sense to dump spoil in this area.

We continue the commitment of the last Council in advocating against the spoil dumping.

Since this proposal was first raised, Hume City Council has strongly and comprehensively advocated to our local member of parliament Josh Bull MP, the Minister for Planning Richard Wynne MP, and the Victorian Government to voice our concerns and to clearly state we do not want this spoil impacting our community.

Hume City Council cannot be clearer; we do not support the spoil coming to Bulla and continue our opposition to the proposal.
