Getting Started
Free Kindergarten is available across Hume at participating services in both sessional and integrated kindergartens. Funded Kindergarten is available for up to 15 hours per week for three and four year old children.
Council offers registrations to sessional kindergarten for both Council-run and non-Council run services. You can find the closest centre in Hume to your home or work by using the 'Find a Kinder Program' map on the Victorian State Government website
Find a Kindergarten
We encourage you to visit kindergartens you are interested in. You can contact the kindergarten to make an appointment to visit the service.
For integrated kindergartens please contact your local long day care service directly or search for a childcare.
Steps to start kindergarten
Step 1 - Expression Of Interest
From birth, complete the online expression of interest form on our website to be notified when it's time to apply for kinder.
Step 2 - Registration
From March, complete an online application two years before your child starts kinder to choose your preferred services. Visit apply for kindergarten for more information.
Step 3 - Offer
From August the year before your child starts kinder, you will receive an email with a service offer. Following this, group preferences can be made.
Step 4 - Group Allocation & Enrolment
From October, group allocations are sent and you will be contacted to complete an enrolment form.
Step 5 - Orientation
Your child's kinder will provide information about orientation and start date.
