In this exhibition Hume artist Kim Jackson presents a suite of original artwork that conjure and capture various emotional states.
An artist of impressive range, Kim’s creative output is diverse and includes oil painting, charcoal drawing, textile-thread work, and sculptural use of dried flowers and found fabric.
Kim relishes returning to her own past ideas and images, as a means of quarrying deeper insights into changing feelings and exploring the potential of her imagery to communicate with the shifting emotions of her viewers.
The floral features in Kim’s artwork also reflect her ancestral heritage, specifically fond memories of time in gardens and cooking with her grandparents.
Other sources of inspiration include Roman "unswept floor mosaics” and the muted colours characteristic in the soft aesthetics of votive Altarini (small devotional altars adorning the outside of houses in the old quarter of Naples, Italy.)
