Transformative Re/pair

Transformative Re/pair presents a collection of works by Ilim College students, guided by teacher Ahmad Sabra and inspired by an inquiry introduced by Dr. Flossie Chua of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The exhibition reimagines repair as an act of transformation, not a return to what once was, but a creative process that embraces change, possibility, and new ways of seeing. 

Through sculpture, visual arts, mixed media, and participatory installations, students explore healing, renewal, sustainability, and resilience. Many works are crafted from discarded objects, abandoned artworks, and found materials, echoing traditions such as Kintsugi, where fractures are honoured rather than concealed. 

The exhibition also delves into emotional and communal forms of repair, reflecting on memory, identity, and belonging. Transformative Re/pair invites audiences to consider how creativity can rebuild connections, generate new meanings, and imagine hopeful futures.
