Council welcomes local MPs

Mayor of Hume City, Cr Carly Moore, officially congratulated the Andrews Government on its re-election.

Member for Yuroke, Ros Spence MP, Member for Broadmeadows, Frank McGuire MP and Member for Sunbury, Josh Bull MP will return to office after being re-elected on Saturday evening.

“On behalf of Council, I would like to congratulate all three of our local Members for being re-elected at the weekend,” Cr Moore said.

“Given Council already has a number of projects underway in partnership with the State Government, we are keen to hit the ground running with our local MPs.

“This includes delivering the $23m redevelopment of the Broadmeadows Town Hall and the $19m Hume Global Learning Centre – Sunbury.

“We look forward to continuing to work with our MPs to deliver these and other projects for the benefit of our community.”

Cr Moore added that she would meet local MPs to discuss Council’s priorities, as well as the next steps for a number of commitments made in the lead up to the State Election.

“We were happy to learn that Sunbury’s Gap Road/Station Street level crossing would be removed and that new schools would be delivered for Hume’s growth areas,” Cr Moore said.

“A number of commitments have also been made regarding sporting hubs and dog parks, and we look forward to finding out how we can secure these for Hume.”

Sunbury

  • $3.1 million to upgrade Gladstone Views Primary School
  • $2.5 million to upgrade Gladstone Park Primary School
  • Creation of a Jacksons Creek Park in Sunbury
  • $2 million for Sunbury's Boardman Reserve Upgrade
  • $1 million for Sunbury's Langama Park Upgrade
  • Building a new community hospital in Sunbury
  • Remove Gap Road/Station St Level Crossing

Yuroke

  • Building a new community hospital in Craigieburn
  • Delivering local schools for Yuroke (Greenvale North West Primary School, Merrifield West Primary School, Greenvale Secondary School and Kalkallo Common Primary School)
