Welcome to a quick wrap up of key items that were discussed at our Council Meeting on Monday 22 June 2026.
1. 2026/27 Budget Adoption
The 2026/27 Council Budget has been formally adopted following a community feedback process in May 2026.
The budget includes a capital works program of $153.96 million, and $244.99 million to meet the increasing demand for the more than 100 services delivered by council to the community.
2. 2026/27 Council Annual Action Plan Adoption
The 2026/27 Council Annual Action Plan has been formally adopted.
The 2026/27 plan highlights 66 strategic actions in Council’s 2026/27 work program that will be delivered over the next financial year to contribute to the achievement of year two of the Council Plan 2025 - 2029.
3. Waste to Energy Facility Proposal
Council formally notes the recommendation from the Sustainability Taskforce, which asks that Council oppose the proposal by HiQ Pty Ltd to construct and operate a waste to energy plant between Bulla and Sunbury.
The recommendation aligns with Council’s submission to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the development and expansion of waste-to-energy (WtE) infrastructure in Victoria.
4. Childcare Centre Developments - Sunbury
Council resolved to issue a notice of decision to grant a planning permit for the use and development of the land for a Childcare Centre, and reduction in car parking spaces, at 28 Neill Street, Sunbury.
The proposal was considered to meet the relevant objectives and requirements of the Hume Planning Scheme. Conditions will be placed on the proposal to mitigate noise and congestion concerns.
