Applications for Hume City Council’s 2026/2027 Major Events season are now open.

Join us in bringing Hume’s events to life! Hume City Council is now accepting applications for our upcoming 2026/27 Major Events season.

We’re looking for a diverse range of participants to help create memorable experiences that showcase the culture, creativity and community spirit of Hume. Whether you’re a performer, vendor, artist, community group or local business, we welcome you to apply.

Carols by Candlelight Craigieburn

To be held on Saturday 5 December 2026 at Craigieburn Anzac Park.  
 
A highlight of the festive season, Carols by Candlelight brings the community together for an evening of celebration. A program of entertainment including a variety of festive roving performances, children’s activities, and food, Christmas themed market, and community stalls.  

This free community event has previously attracted approximately 10,000 attendees and runs from 5pm-8.30pm.  

Seeking: Food and drink vendors, Christmas themed stallholders and performers. We are seeking Christmas themed stallholders only.

Carols by Candlelight Westmeadows

To be held on Friday 18 December 2026 at Westmeadows Reserve.  

A free, family-friendly event that carries on the tradition of Carols by Candlelight within Westmeadows. It features Christmas performances by local school choirs, community groups, and local musicians. The event includes a variety of family-friendly activities, roving entertainers, and a selection of food and Christmas themed community stalls.  

Seeking: Food and drink vendors, Christmas themed stallholders and performers. We are seeking Christmas themed stallholders only.

Craigieburn Festival 2026

To be held on Saturday 13 March 2027 at Craigieburn Anzac Park.  

This long-running festival is a community favourite and includes a program focused on family-friendly attractions including live performances, interactive workshops, free children’s activities, stalls, food vendors, fireworks and more.  

This free community event has previously attracted approximately 15,000-20,000 attendees.  

Seeking: Food and drink vendors, stallholders and performers.

Hume Winter Lights Festival 2027

Hume City Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from professional organisations and companies to present existing light-based installations and artworks at Hume Winter Lights Festival. 

To be held on Saturday 19 June 2027 at Hume Central Precinct’s Town Hall.  

The Hume Winter Lights Festival is a community-favourite, after-dark event celebrating light, illumination and projection. Featuring glowing installations, large-scale projections, music, LED and fire performances, food trucks, and interactive workshops. The Hume Central Precinct transforms into a vibrant cultural hub filled with immersive experiences, artistic installations, entertainment and community activity. Past festival editions have featured exhibitions in the beautiful Town Hall Broadmeadows Gallery, live DJ's sets and other activations. 

This free community event has previously attracted approximately 5,000 attendees.  

Submissions should propose ready-made works that have been previously presented or are fully developed and suitable for short-term outdoor display. Hume is not seeking new commissions through this process.  

We are seeking high-quality, ready-made works that:  

  • Are visually engaging and suitable for outdoor night-time presentation  

  • Have a proven track record in public or festival contexts  

  • Can be delivered efficiently with clear technical and operational requirements  

  • Installations should be suitable for short-duration presentation (1–2 nights).  

  • Submissions from experienced providers with touring works are strongly encouraged.  

Applications close: 27 September 2026

Proposals should include clear information on:  

  • Touring requirements (crew, logistics, freight)  

  • Installation and technical needs  

  • Presentation options (1-day vs 2-day delivery)  

  • Full costings  

  • This is an opportunity to bring high-quality, engaging light experiences to audiences across Hume.
