Australia Day in the Park

Residents are invited to come together for Australia Day in the Park, a free community event at Jack Roper Reserve, Broadmeadows, on Monday 26 January from 4pm.

Australia Day gives all Australians the opportunity to reflect, respect and celebrate all that has contributed to the country and people we are today.

The accessible and inclusive event has been made possible through the National Australia Day Council’s Community Events Program, which encourages councils and community groups to embrace unity on our national day.

Australia Day in the Park will include a traditional Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country with the Wurundjeri Council of Victoria, recognising the cultural significance of the day and the enduring connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country.

The family-friendly event will feature live music, a magician and entertainers, kids’ activities, parent pods and free fairy floss, popcorn, coffee, ice cream, sausage sizzle and more.

This event is free and open to everyone to celebrate community, culture and connection.

For event details, and to register your interest, visit Australia Day in the Park at our website.

Quotes attributable to Hume City Mayor, Councillor Carly Moore:

“Australia Day in the Park is a chance for our community to come together, celebrate what it means to be Australian, and reflect on the journey that has shaped our nation."

"By combining family-friendly activities with cultural recognition, we’re creating a space where people can celebrate, learn and spend time together.”
