1. Data Centres
Council resolved to write to the Victorian Government to convey community concerns around the establishment of data centre in Hume City.
Requests will include halting approval for new centres and expansions for existing centres, participate in the development of national policy for data centre creation, that any future plans be brought to the attention of all councillors, and noting community interest in a public information session.
2. Merlynston Creek Parklands Masterplan
Council has approved the masterplan, which outlines an exciting vision for the community of Broadmeadows, Dallas and Coolaroo.
The masterplan contains strategic directions and actions set out for the protection and enhancement of multiple parks connected as part of the Merlynston Creek Parklands.
3. Hume Enforcement and Compliance Policy Review
The Hume Enforcement and Compliance Policy outlines Council’s approach to exercising its regulatory responsibilities, including how it administers, monitors, and enforces legislation, regulations and other statutory obligations for which it is responsible.
A review of the current policy, adopted in 2023, found it remains sounds with some suggested amendments to improve clarity, strengthen governance arrangements and to better align the Policy to contemporary regulatory practice.
4. Communications Campaign Trial for Kalkallo and Mickleham Community Centres
Following a Communications Campaign Trial, it was found that low numbers at growth area community centres is due to programming, and lack of demand and access, rather than poor communication.
Will consider a Kalkallo and Mickleham Activation Pilot to test the impact of dedicated strategic programming on overall participation and facility utilisation.
5. Craigieburn Scouts Relocation
Council endorsed the vacant land across from the Highlander Drive Community Centre, 141 Highlander Drive, Craigieburn, as the preferred site for the relocation of the 1st Craigieburn Scout Group facility.
Authorised Council Officers will negotiate entering a land lease agreement for the site with Scouts Victoria and the 1st Craigieburn Scout Group.
