Fawkner Street Village

Project summary

We'll be upgrading the Fawkner Street Village precinct in Westmeadows. The upgrade is being delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government and construction will be delivered in two phases, to minimise disruption to businesses, traffic and bus users.

What we are doing

The upgrade will enhance the streetscape and deliver a safer, more accessible village centre with: 

  • new feature paving and lighting
  • upgraded street furniture and bus shelters
  • improved garden beds and landscaping
  • better acessibility and safety for pedestrians and bus users
  • a revised one-way service road to improve traffic flow.

Construction works will commence in November and are expected to be completed in early 2026.

When will it be completed

Phase 1: Southern bus stop area along Fawkner Street (construction between November and December 2025)

Temporary bus stop arrangements will be in place during the works. Buses will not be able to use the existing bus bay on Fawkner Street and will instead stop on Raleigh Street, approximately 180 metres from the current location. 

Some minor traffic delays may occur while these works are underway. Please refer to the pedestrian detour map below.

Phase 2: Northern bus stop area along Fawkner Street (construction between January and February 2026)

Once Phase 1 works are complete, works will shift to the northern bus stop area. As part of Phase 2, there will be minor changes to how you access the northern bus stop, however no detour will be required as buses will continue to operate as usual. We’ll share more information about Phase 2 impacts before these works begin in 2026.
