What we're doing

We're upgrading the existing fenced dog park to improve the experience for dogs and their owners. The fenced dog park will remain the same size with the below listed improvements:

  • paths upgraded to concrete
  • additional seating
  • new trees for shade
  • new sensory area for dogs
  • fresh landscaping, vegetation and irrigation renewal.

Why are we doing these works?

Hume City Council has received a grant from the State Government as part of their New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program. The aims of the program include:

  • investing in off-leash areas to meet the growing demand for people to socialise and exercise their dog off-leash
  • facilitating upgrades of existing dog off-leash areas to support contemporary needs and future longevity
  • contributing to urban greening, cooling and shading of local neighbourhoods
  • improving connectivity of open spaces with other points of interest and activity
  • increasing accessibility and safety of park users for all abilities and all genders; and
  • supporting involvement of Traditional Custodians.

When will works commence?

Works are now underway and will be finished by mid-2026, weather permitting. Throughout construction, the fenced dog park will be closed so that we can complete these works safely. The adjacent off leash area in John Ilhan Memorial Reserve will remain open. Thank you for your patience as we complete these upgrade works.
