Asphalt road

We’re constructing Yirrangan Road, an important future connection between Jacksons Hill, the Sunbury Town Centre and Calder Freeway.

What we're doing

We’re constructing Yirrangan Road, which will connect residents in the existing Jacksons Hill area and future Sunbury South residential area with the Sunbury Town Centre and Calder Freeway.

The future road will be located between Yirrangan Road in Jacksons Hill and Watsons Road in Sunbury South.

Works on the road were initially commencing in 2022, however, field work discovered the proposed site was home to a significant quantity of Aboriginal artifacts.

In line with heritage protection legislation and Council’s own commitment to respect and maintain the culture of the site’s Traditional Owners, we’re undertaking works to fully salvage and relocate artifacts and aim to commence works at the southern end of the road from 2024.

Why we're doing it

We’re constructing the road to improve connections through Sunbury and to cater for the increase in demand expected with the suburb’s future growth.

When will construction start

We’re undertaking works to fully salvage and relocate indigenous artifacts at the site and aim to commence works at the southern end of the road from 2024.
