Every year NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia from the first Sunday in July. This week is dedicated to celebrating and commemorating the history, culture, and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year, we unite under the official theme for 2025 ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy'. NAIDOC Week 2025 marks 50 years of celebrating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience.
The theme, 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy', honors the past achievements and looks forward to a bright future led by young leaders, guided by the wisdom of Elders and the legacy of ancestors. What started as a movement for recognition and rights has grown into a national celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' strength. As we celebrate this milestone, we honor the next generation who will continue to shape the future with courage, respect, and unity, carrying the movement forward with pride.
Hume Council is honored to host a series of NAIDOC Week events and activities, welcoming everyone to join the celebration.
