Improved bus routes confirmed for Hume
Published on 19 September 2025
Hume City Council has welcomed the announcement by the Victorian State Government of new and improved bus routes for Hume City.
Starting 5 October, a number of routes across Hume will begin running longer operating hours and a more frequent schedule, resulting in hundreds of extra services in Hume’s northern suburbs.
New and Updated Routes Include:
- Route 511 – Craigieburn Station to Mandalay
- Route 525 – Donnybrook Station to Craigieburn Station
- Route 528 – Craigieburn Station to Craigieburn Central SC
- Route 529 – Craigieburn Station to Craigieburn North
- Route 533 – Craigieburn to Craigieburn North
- Route 537 – Craigieburn Station to Craigieburn Central SC
In exciting news, the recently launched new Route 524 will be extended along Cloverton Boulevard to Kalkallo, connecting Kalkallo Town Centre to Donnybrook Station with 173 new trips per week.
These upgraded services will make it easier for residents in our growing suburbs to stay connected, particularly through major hubs such as Craigieburn, Donnybrook and Roxburgh Park stations.
For Hume residents, these upgrades mean:
- extended timetable hours
- more connections to trains and buses
- improved access to train stations and other bus connections
- easier to travel to school, work and vital services
Council welcomes this much-needed investment from the State Government and sees it as a positive step forward.
However, we know many areas across Hume still face significant public transport challenges, particularly in our growing communities, and we will continue to advocate for better transport options.
Quotes attributable to Hume City Mayor, Councillor Jarrod Bell:
“As Hume continues to grow, funding to ensure our transport networks keep pace has fallen well behind.
A lack of transport options in many of our suburbs leaves too many without a choice but to drive, creating congestion on our streets and causing headaches for our growing population.
We’re pleased the state government has recognised this need, and we look forward to continuing to advocate for improved transport outcomes for our community.”
