What we're doing 

We'll be renewing the existing Maygar Grey Box Woodland Reserve in Broadmeadows to include:

  • new play equipment including a play unit, swing set, carousel and rocker
  • nature play activities
  • exercise equipment
  • half-sized basketball court
  • bike hoops
  • new shelter, picnic tables and seats
  • drinking fountain
  • tree planting and landscaping.

Why are we doing these works?

The existing playspace is 20 years old and in need of renewal. It is also an opportunity to provide appropriate landscape upgrades within the area. 

When will works commence?

Stage 1 works are planned to begin in mid-August 2025 and construction is due to be completed by late December 2025, weather permitting.  

During construction of Stage 1, the playspace, basketball area and picnic area will be closed, however most of the southern and eastern sections of the reserve will remain open to the public.

While the playspace is closed, an alternative playspace can be found nearby at Jim Stewart Reserve in Dallas. 

Stage 2 works involve upgrading footpaths to improve access to and from the reserve, with these works likely to commence in early 2026. We'll provide more information about these works in advance.
