Every year, between 1 October and 30 September, all households in Hume (both homeowners and renters) are entitled to a number of free hard waste services. This includes two passes to drop off household waste at our Resource Recovery Centres (tip passes).
Up to 2m3 of household waste can be dropped off with each pass. Passes can be used for:
- Two visits per year to drop off up to 2m3 of waste, or
- One visit per year to drop off up to 4m3 of waste.
Tip passes are for resident use only and are not transferable. Commercial use is not permitted.
Check your entitlements
If you’re not sure if you have used up your tip pass entitlements for the year, you can check here:

Using your tip pass
Your tip pass is the QR code on the back of your rates notice. If you are renting or don't have your rates notice, contact us for a copy of your pass.
To use your pass, bring your rates notice or instalment reminder notice with you to show at the gatehouse. Digital copies will only be accepted if the QR code is clearly visible.

Refunds will not be given for customers who do not present their tip pass at the time of their visit.
How much waste can I drop off for free?
Up to 2m3 of household waste can be dropped off with each pass. You can use your passes separately, or together for one big load (up to 4m3).
A maximum of 4 mattresses and 10 tyres will be accepted each year as part of your free passes. Additional items will be charged at standard rates. See the fees and charges section for more information.
