We’ve built the Merrifield Recreation Reserve to create new recreational facilities and sports opportunities in Mickleham. 

What we did

The Merrifield Recreation Reserve has been constructed in stages.

Stage 1 (civil and landscaping works) included construction of the following:

  • two cricket/football ovals
  • sports lighting and electronic scoreboard on main (southern) oval
  • six Plexipave tennis courts with lighting 
  • playground
  • outdoor exercise equipment
  • skate park
  • dog park
  • Exeloo (public toilets)

Stage 2 of the project involved the construction of the sports pavilion, including the following components:

  • social room with kitchen and bar
  • four change rooms for players, trainer’s rooms and amenity
  • two official rooms
  • club storeroom
  • office.

Why we did it

This project delivers a range of active and passive recreational facilities and sporting opportunities for the Mickleham community, including the newly established tenant who will be located at the site, the Merrifield Panthers Sports Association.

When was it completed?

Stage 1 was completed May 2022 and Stage 2 was completed in April 2023.

This project was delivered in partnership between Hume City Council, MAB and the Victorian Government.
