Hume City Council has outlined a year of action and progress with the presentation of its Annual Report for 2022/23 at Monday 23 October’s Ordinary Council Meeting.

The Annual Report provides an overview of the highlights, achievements and challenges Council experienced in the 2022/23 financial year.

It also measures our performance and progress against the objectives and priorities set out in our Council Plan 2021–2025, alongside the Budget 2022/23.

As of 30 June 2023, Council had completed 36 of the 45 Council Plan actions reported on in the financial year. Pleasingly, progress was made on a further eight actions while one was deferred.

We delivered almost $100 million worth of projects as part of our annual capital works program – a record for Hume City Council - and approved more than 1,000 planning permits, leading to the creation of 3,000 new homes for our residents.

Through collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Council developed and installed a permanent Stolen Generations Marker in Craigieburn, honouring a commitment made in our Reconciliation Action Plan 2020-2022

Our commitment to Maternal and Child Health services was extended through our innovative ‘Health on the Move’ van, bringing access to vital MCH services where they’re needed most. This is the only one of its kind currently operating in Victoria.

Following a 20% increase in reports of illegal dumping across the City, a dedicated Waste Response Team was established to focus on education, enforcement and infrastructure to support our residents to dispose of waste correctly.

Other notable mentions are Council’s five awards for excellence in the areas of IT, our Hume Winter Lights Festival, the Loving Grasslands Docuseries, SPLASH Swim School of the Year, and Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal advocacy.

“In 2023/24 we will continue to build on the achievements of the previous financial year through improved service deliver, advocacy to the State and Federal Governments, as well as pursuing partnerships with service providers and businesses, to create opportunities for our community to grow and prosper.”
