In today’s digitally driven world, time away from the demands of work has both expanded and contracted. Work hours are shorter however the constant presence of personal devices keeps us connected with offices and social networks of family and friends.

The use of mobile phones accelerates time, to a point where even the activities and hobbies we pursue in quiet private moments can seem tied to demanding pop-up deadlines (the next release in a TV series, the prompts from our language or mind games app.)

Reflecting on how pastimes have changed over the last 150 years is, like studying history, a leisure activity itself.

The exhibition is designed to ‘pause time’ for a moment, so viewers can enjoy reflecting on the changing nature of how people play and enjoy the world.

The exhibition extends across two areas including the Heritage Vitrine in the Library and the two Gallery Box Cases located in the foyer of the HGLC-Sunbury.
