Carols by Candlelight

Our flagship Carols by Candlelight event returns to Craigieburn Anzac Park on Saturday 6 December. An evening of festive cheer, entertainment, and community spirit. 

This is a non-ticketed event, but we encourage you to register your attendance to keep up to date with the latest announcements.  

You’ll find additional carols events sponsored or run by Hume City Council below. 

Carols by Candlelight Craigieburn: Host and performer, Rhonda Burchmore

With more than 40 years in the industry under her belt, and a regular at Australia’s biggest carols events since the 1990s, Burchmore is as Christmas as mistletoe and, unlike Melbourne’s weather, she consistently shines bright.

Garth Ploog will lead a nine-piece band - Musical Director

Garth Ploog, based in Hume City, is one of Melbourne’s most versatile performers, known as a singer, pianist, and musical director. With a career spanning thousands of events since 2007, Garth has toured nationally and internationally, performed at major sporting events, and even lent his voice to the Neighbours theme song. Also, an accomplished actor and voice-over artist, Garth brings experience, talent, and passion to every performance.

AYDAN

AYDAN is a dynamic performer whose creative energy shines through music, acting, and everything in between. Fresh from his lead role in Stan’s Invisible Boys and now working independently, he continues to captivate audiences with his charisma and talent. Known for catchy songs and an authentic presence, AYDAN is set to deliver more music, more shows, and more unforgettable moments.

DanceXclusive, founded in 2008 in Craigieburn, is a vibrant dance school offering classes in jazz, hip hop, ballet, tap, lyrical, and acrobatics. With a focus on confidence, teamwork, and joy, the school provides an inclusive environment where dancers of all ages can thrive. This festive season, DanceXclusive brings an energetic performance full of holiday sparkle to Carols by Candlelight, showcasing the passion and dedication of its talented students.

Divine Divas Show Choir

The Divine Divas Show Choir, founded in 2006 by Adam Przewlocki, is one of Australia’s leading female pop choirs. Known for their dynamic performances, the Divas have appeared on Battle of the Choirs, reached the semi-finals of Australia’s Got Talent, and earned top honors at the Australian National Eisteddfod. With a history of community engagement and award-winning achievements, the choir continues to inspire audiences with its powerful harmonies and vibrant spirit.

Eamonn Conor

Eamonn Conor is a Melbourne/Naarm-based pop–R&B artist known for hook-heavy songs, smooth harmonies, and high-energy live performances. Blending the polish of Maroon 5 and Charlie Puth with a modern edge, they move effortlessly from satin falsetto to crowd-lifting choruses. With two EPs (Thought’s and Last Chance Romance) and new music on the way in 2026, Eamonn has built a loyal following through regular gigs across Victoria and a vibrant online presence. Backed by a tight band delivering dynamic arrangements and sing-along hooks, their shows are all about connection, positivity, and pop songs that stick.

Emily Daye

Emily Daye is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter whose music celebrates life’s simple joys with clarity and warmth. Her releases, including Daybreak and Daylight, reflect thoughtful artistry, while her live performances create intimate, memorable experiences. From weddings to community stages, Emily’s music brings people together, proving that some Dayes are simply meant for melody and connection.

Rance Lazarus

Rance Lazarus, a Craigieburn-born singer-songwriter, blends pop-rock and indie pop with heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies. His music explores themes of love and connection, earning recognition such as RSOM’s Top Song of the Year and a feature at the St Kilda Film Festival. After supporting ARIA winner Conrad Sewell and performing at local festivals, Rance returns to Carols by Candlelight to share his uplifting sound and hometown pride.

School Choirs: Our Lady's Primary School Craigieburn and Willmott Park Primary School Choir and Ukelele Group

Our Lady’s Primary School Choir Craigieburn and Willmott Park Primary School Singing and Ukulele Group bring the vibrant spirit of Craigieburn to Carols by Candlelight. The Our Lady’s Choir, an auditioned ensemble of Years 4–6 students, has delighted audiences for five years at community events including the Craigieburn Festival and parish celebrations, often collaborating with the Hume Community Youth Orchestra under the leadership of Music Teacher Helena Balazs. Joining them is Willmott Park’s enthusiastic Year 3–4 Singing and Ukulele Group, formed in 2025 and already a highlight of school celebrations. Together, these talented young performers share festive cheer through joyful Christmas songs, showcasing teamwork, growth, and a love of music.

FAQ's

Candles

Candles are for sale from the information point and can be recycled by the information point.  

What to bring

  • Picnic rug / blanket 
  • Chairs – only lower chairs and blankets in the front section of the audience 
  • Money  
  • Drink bottle to refill at water points 
  • Sun safe items  
  • Warm jacket 

What not to bring

  • No glass
  • No knives or weapons
  • No alcohol

Weather

The event will proceed in most weather conditions. If extreme weather is present or forecast please refer to the Hume City Council social media for updates or register via Eventbrite.

Safety

Security   

Security and police personnel will be on-site. Alcohol is prohibited at this event. Random bag checks can be completed at any time. 

Any concerns can be reported to the information point.  

First aid   

First aid will be centrally located, next to the Festival Information marquee.   

Lost children   

You can pick up a wristband from the Information & Lost Children’s marquees. You can write your phone number on the wristband and attach it to your child’s wrist so we can contact you easily if your child becomes lost.   

The Lost Children’s marquee is the meeting point for lost children and vulnerable people. 

In an Emergency   

If there is an emergency, you may be required to evacuate the site. Please remain calm and follow instructions from staff and emergency services.  Help is available from our Event Staff, the medical team, security, and the Information Tent.  Please reach out to our staff on site if you have any concerns. 

Stage lighting warning 

Lighting effects including strobe, laser and flicker may be used at the event. 

Accessibility

Parking: Accessible parking is accessible via the SPLASH car park via Central Park Ave. Please have your accessible parking pass (ADP) visible, alternative accessible parking is available at Craigieburn Central.

Event site: The event is outdoors with footpaths leading to and from parking areas, as well as some paths within Craigieburn Anzac Park. Patron viewing areas are located on grass, and the ground may be uneven.

Accessible toilets: Accessible toilets will be onsite, including a Changing Places facility that can be accessed with an MLAK key.

Parent’s room: A portable parent’s room with baby change facilities, a feeding area, and a microwave will be available beside the information tent.

AUSLAN interpretation: AUSLAN interpreters will be on stage during the Carols by Candlelight show, interpreting all speeches, announcements, and performances for our Deaf and hearing-impaired community.

Accessible viewing area: A reserved viewing area for patrons with accessibility needs will be located stage right, behind the aisleway. Companion chairs will be available for friends and family. Please note that this area is on grass but has been relocated closer to the path for 2025.

Quiet space: The Libraries team will host a story time that will also serve as a Quiet Space for patrons needing a break from sensory overload or noise. This will be available until 8:00 pm.

Amenities

Drinking water: Free water stations will be available. Please bring a refillable drink bottle, as glass bottles are not permitted. Water can also be purchased from food vendors.

Toilets: Portable toilets, including accessible options, will be onsite for your convenience.

Parent’s room: A portable parent’s room with baby change facilities, a feeding area, and a microwave will be available.

Smoking: The event is smoke-free except for a dedicated smoking zone located between the athletics track and Splash Aquatic Centre.

Food and drinks: A variety of food and beverages will be available for purchase from vendors. You are welcome to bring a picnic, but please note that alcohol is prohibited. Bag checks may be conducted by security at any time.

Christmas markets: Explore our festive markets from 5:00 pm, featuring stallholders showcasing local Hume traders and their unique wares.

Getting here

Is there access to public transport? 

Yes, there are several bus stops around the event site. There is also a train station in Craigieburn. Plan your journey with Public Transport Victoria.  

Walking to Anzac Park? 

There will be multiple pedestrian entry and exit points throughout the event site. The event is not fenced. There are no tickets or any other requirements to enter. We do not anticipate there will be a need to queue for entry or exit. 
 
We do have an Eventbrite link, so you can register your interest in attending the event and get updates as we get closer to the night. 

Please always cross the roads with care using the traffic lights, marked crossings or the temporary pedestrian crossing on Central Park Ave with a traffic marshal present.   

Where can I park? 

Car parking is available at Craigieburn Central, and Punt Street Reserve. We will have our traffic marshals managing the parking. 

Where is the event? 

Carols by Candlelight will be held at Craigieburn Anzac Park, Cnr Central Park Ave and Aitken Blvd, Craigieburn  

The event is not fenced, and you can enter via any side of the site.  

Please always cross the roads with care using the traffic lights, marked crossings or the temporary pedestrian crossing on Central Park Ave with a traffic marshal present.   

Is this event pet-friendly? 

Pets are not permitted at Carols by Candlelight 2025. Registered service animals are welcome to attend.  

For 2025, there are no fireworks scheduled as part of the program. 

Is the event free?

Yes! Entry to the event is completely free. Enjoy a range of family-friendly activities, including live music, face painting, and kids’ Christmas craft.

Based on feedback from 2024, both face painting and craft activities will now run from 5:00pm to 8.15pm.

The stage program will feature live performances throughout the evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Will there be fireworks?

For 2025, there are no fireworks scheduled as part of the program.
