Purpose and mission

Artrise is a vibrant and inclusive space where creativity and community meet – a place designed to nurture talent, spark imagination, and foster meaningful connections through artistic expression.

Our mission is to make art accessible and relevant to people of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience. Through exhibitions, cultural events, collaborative workshops, and community-led initiatives, we celebrate diversity and encourage everyone to participate, create, and feel a sense of belonging. We believe in the transformative potential of collective creativity and its ability to inspire change. Every voice matters, and every story adds to the richness of our shared cultural fabric.

A place that is successful and sustainable

The precinct is a destination, a vibrant hub of activity, utilising all buildings and assets and bringing together a mix of community, organisations and complementary businesses to drive local economic benefits and long-term viability.

Project background

Guided by a master plan developed by the State Government, Jacksons Hill is being transformed into a mixed-use precinct featuring residential development, commercial activity, education and training, and a dedicated arts and cultural hub.

The original arts and cultural precinct was earmarked for four heritage buildings (18, 19, 20, and 21), which remain part of a complex planning and heritage process. To bring arts and culture to Jacksons Hill, Hume City Council secured a long-term lease in 2022 for a nearby parcel of land known as Lot C. This includes two buildings – Building 22, the former Female Refractory Ward, and Building 24 a shed.

These two buildings now form Artrise.

We thank the Victorian State Government for their contribution to making Artrise a reality.
