Hume City Council is an Interface Council, one of 10 local governments that form a ring around metropolitan Melbourne – the area where Melbourne is growing fastest.

We are home to 241,000 residents in 2020, with an expected population of 345,400 by 2041. That’s why our communities need investment, we are asking the State and Federal Government to commit to our priority projects.

Gambling Harm in Hume

As of the 2022/23 financial year, $139 million has been lost to electronic gaming machines in Hume City - the highest recorded losses to electronic gaming machines the municipality has seen. Gambling harm reform is one of Council's top advocacy priorities.
