What we're doing 

We're upgrading the site at the Westmeadows War Memorial to improve the area for future events, and create a welcoming and accessible space, reflective of the community.

The landscape upgrade will provide a formalised gathering space to re-orient events away from the road and strengthen the memorial as a destination for contemplation, by including the following improvements:

  • paving and pathways 
  • seating and furniture 
  • garden beds, planting and trees 
  • new minor commemorative elements, such as plaques  
  • tree removal.

Why are we doing these works?

The upgrade will enhance the site of the War Memorial to provide a more functional, accessible and safer space for the annual Anzac Day Vigil, Dawn service and Remembrance Day, and to provide for a contemplative space that people can visit throughout the year. 

When will works commence?

Construction is currently scheduled to start late 2026 and be completed in early 2027.

Concept plan

The design concepts are currently under review following community consultation in February 2026, with the final design to be confirmed at a later date. We'll keep the community informed as this progresses.
